30s Vintage Barbizon Morningside Silk Satin Dasche Robe
You'll feel as if you've walked off the pages of a 1930s Dashiell Hammett novel in this stunning menswear inspired robe from Barbizon Heavyweight crepe back silk satin in a luscious sienna rose hue is styled in a classic double breasted cut, with burgundy silk satin piping throughout, accenting the clean lines and details.
Cuffs and pocket tops are double layered then piped, collar, body and hem are faced and all facings have been blind tacked by hand with the most exquisite stitch quality. Facing extends to the width of the double breast to give extra strength to button holes via the double layer. Interior is constructed entirely of French seams. Self fabric belt loops hold the original sash in place, button loop of burgundy piping can be used to secure the bodice flap to the top left button if desired.
Garment is essentially cut straight from bodice to hem, measuring 38" at bust and waist, and 40" at the hip. Shoulder is 14", sleeve length is 21", armscye is 18", center back neck to hemline is 41", fitting 5'9" med/large model, 37-28-38 as shown. Cloth tag reads, "Barbizon Morningside, 12, Pure Silk Super Satin Dasche." Garment is in excellent vintage condition with a few minor flaws. Interior of garment shows virtually no wear as the back collar, cuffs, waist and seat are exceptionally pristine. 'Most noticeable are dimples in the fabric at the front edge of the sleeves near the armscye. There are scatterings of faint marks at the lower right front and upper back right shoulder. There is a darker 2cm mark on left bodice above pocket. See photos for all details.
