This unusual 30s all-in-one is a forerunner to the modern
girdle. Designed before the days of spandex and power mesh this pink cotton brocade beauty uses strategically placed spiral steel boning and woven panels to give its wearer a svelte silhouette. Short strips of boning are placed across the waist to control the belly with long vertical boning down the entire length of the back help to shape the rear. A smooth satin knit panel along the bust compresses the breasts to achieve the gamine figure popular in the 30s. Two triangular panels made from tubular knit rubber core yarn reach from the rear hip to the waist and are designed to give the garment slight stretch. Style features four adjustable garters and opens along the side with 16 hidden hook and eye closures. This historical piece is stamped along the inside to mark the size and reads, "Size 38." Measures 38 at the bust, 34 waist, 44 hips, designed to fit a L/38.
Girdle is clipped to model to show proper silhouette. Garment is in very good condition showing light signs of wear.
